The Facebook Business Manager is needed to advertise for your business and to control different types of access to your business, especially when working with a partner.
Here are the steps you should take to set up a Facebook Business Manager:
- Go to https://business.facebook.com/overview
- Click on the button Create Account
- Enter a name for your business, your name and work email address and click Next
- Enter your business details and click Submit
Now you have created a Business Manager. However, to get started with advertising the Facebook ad account, Facebook page and Instagram account need to be connected to your Business Manager.
The first step to start advertising on Facebook & Instagram is to create a Facebook page and Instagram Business profile.
Here are the steps to create a Facebook page for your business:
- Go to https://facebook.com/pages/create
- Click to choose a category for your page
- Enter the required information and click Create Page
- Add an profile and cover photo, then click Save
It is important for people to find and follow your page. To improve your visibility you want to provide as much information as possible on your Facebook page.
- Select (up to 3) categories that best describe your business
- Add your address if you own a business with a physical location
- If you don’t have a location where people can visit, edit your Page info to hide your street address on computers and mobile devices
- If you have multiple locations, create store pages so people can find them on a map
To advertise on Instagram you need to create an Instagram account. Once the Instagram account is created you need to change the settings to create a business account and to connect your Instagram account to your Facebook page.
Here are the steps you should take to set up an Instagram account:
- Download the Instagram app
- Tap Create new account
- Enter your email address or phone number (which will require a confirmation code) and tap Next
- Create a username and password and other profile info and then tap Next
- Go to your profile and tap the menu in the top right corner
- Go to Settings and tap Account to Switch to professional account and tap Continue
- Select a category for your business and tap Done
- Tap OK to confirm and select Business to continue and tap Next
- Add contact details and tap Next
- Follow the steps to connect your Instagram business account to your Facebook page associated with your business
